Governor Schwarzenegger's decision to suspend
the California Medical Marijuana Identification
Program pending a review by the Attorney
General, does not affect the legal status of
MediCann patients.
MediCann continues to offer legal, affordable medical marijuana evaluations.
Patients who have received recommendations from MediCann health professionals retain the protections of Proposition 215 and Senate Bill 420.
Spokesperson Matt Desanto specifies that "The identification card program is designed to verify authorized medical marijuana patients to law enforcement.
Let me stress that the Medical Marijuana State ID Card system is a completely voluntary program for recommended patients and caregivers.
Qualified patients who want to apply for a state card will have to wait for Attorney General Bill Lockyer's review and response."
MediCann urges all concerned individuals and medical marijuana advocates to contact Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (916) 445–2841 and Attorney General Lockyer (916) 322–3360.
